Thanks for coming by. This Locals community is for people who want to participate in or help with the development of the Gladhandlers.com web app.
What is Gladhandlers.com? An app that lets you leave reviews of current politicians. You can leave Kudos for positive reviews or Grudges for negative ones. You can reply to existing comments and thumbs-up and down their reviews. There's also the Gladhandler's Score -- the net aggregate of the politicians grudges and kudos.
So, what's the point? Primary elections. No one will vote for the other party. So, if we're going to make meaningful change, we have to do it through the party primaries. Unfortunately, there is very little participation. My hope is that, at primary time, gladhandlers.com can be used to drive people to the primary process and vote out the bums.
What is a glad-handler? According to the Political Dictionary:
A glad-hander is a highly extroverted person who makes a point of acting friendly in an over-the-top way. However, in politics the term glad-hander connotes insincerity and opportunism.
This seems interesting, how can I help?
- Consider creating an account on gladhandlers.com and leave some reviews. I like bookmarking things that delight me or annoy me from X; then, when I have a minute, I come to gladhandlers.com and review. It feels good.
- If you have feedback, suggestion, or questions you can use the in-app feedback option, or you can come here and post something in Locals, or reply to the current development thread in Locals.
- Follow me on X. @CptSmashing
- You can also, subscribe to this Locals channel. For only $3 per month you can help fund this project or a one-time donation of whatever you like.
This money helps me justify the time and effort needed for the site. This is what your subscription/donation will fund:- Keeping the politicians up-to-date,
- I'd like to add State politicians, appointed politicians, and high-profile employed bureaucrats.
- The site will take a good amount of moderation as well, I'm assuming.
- Time to promote and market the site -- it's useless if people don't add their reviews.
- And if things go well, I'd like to offer information about how to participate in primaries in general, as well as state-specific information.
